Hackney Women’s FC x Hackney Empire
To mark 125 years of Hackney Empire and 40 years of Hackney Women’s FC, a new football kit has been unveiled celebrating Hackney’s creative heritage and community.
The collaboration between Hackney Empire, Hackney Women’s FC and Wood Street Walls brings together the theatre’s legacy with that of Europe’s longest-running LGBTQIA+ football team, founded in 1986.
The kit was designed by fashion student Daphne Scotto Di Carlo, who won the design competition with a collection inspired by the theatre’s archive. It features historic typography and the phrase “Playing with Pride Since 1986”, reflecting the club’s identity.
Members of Hackney Women’s FC will be joining Sasha Batemen on the Just Two Girls radio show on Saturday 17th October 2pm – 4pm for a chat about the collab.
