Andreas Gursky at White Cube
White Cube Bermondsey is presenting a photography exhibition by Andreas Gursky this summer, featuring a series of new and recent pieces by the renowned artist.
Gursky, whose photograph Rhine II sold for a record $4,338,500 in 2011, has had his work exhibited internationally, including in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Tate Modern and The Broad, Los Angeles.
The theme of the collection is Gursky’s commentary on the “essential commonality” of contemporary life, with a focus on the anatomy of global capitalism.
Gurksy’s photos take on a scale so grand they could almost be confused with a history painting. Multinational headquarters, political seminars and fashion runways are captured in all their magnificence; their spatial precedence highlighting the scale of pressing issues within today’s globalised society.
The exhibition is open 29th April – 26th June. More information here.
