Bringing you the latest tech news, opinion, thoughts and chat in your weekly mid-week tech update every Wednesday at our new time of 6pm on Hoxton Radio.
This week saw Andrew firstly announcing some changes on the show with both Jim and Sophie sadly standing down as permanent presenters to focus on work commitments. However, don’t be too sad, as you’ll definitely see them back as guests in the future.
Andrew talked about the exciting Apple announcement and star-studded launch of their new servies: online streaming service, Apple TV+, taking on rivals Netflix and Amazon Prime; the new Apple Credit Card; news & magazine subscription, Apple News+; and their new gaming platform, Apple Arcade, to take on Google’s also recently announced, Stadia.
Also mentioned was the announcement of the 2018 Turing Award, known as the ‘Nobel Prize for computing’ which has been given to three researchers – Yoshua Bengio, Geoffrey Hinton and Yann LeCun – often called the ‘godfathers of AI’ given them laying the foundations for the current boom in AI and its descendants such as facial recognition to unlock your phone and smart email writing suggestions. Well done guys!
Tune in next week for more juicy techy goodness!
