Wide Awake Review

The sun shone down as the crowd came out to start the festival season on Saturday.

The best art-pop to garage-indie acts scattered the Wide Awake’s stages, with highlights from Osees, Shygirl and Viagra Boys.

Lead singer Sebastian Murphy of the latter Swedish punk band put on an energetic show as they stripped down, rousing fans through their satirically hyper-masculine lyrics.

Los Bitchos also impressed with vibrant, psychedelic tunes before the revised ensemble of Black Country, New Road invigorated the crowd in their experimental set.

The best of the day though had to be first-time headliner Caroline Polachek. Their ethereal voice wrapped up the fierce string of acts, stunning the crowd with their hit single ‘So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings’.
