When Home Meets Heat: A Caribbean Feast with Kapana at Mama Shelter

On 25th September, Mama Shelter in Hackney will host an intimate, high-energy dining experience led by Kapana Feldano, the founder of Grandma’s Hot Sauce, whose soulful approach to food blends storytelling with flavour. Each dish draws on generations of Caribbean home cooking, infused with the unmistakable fire of Grandma’s Hot Sauce.

Adding extra spice to the evening, Kapana will be joined by a surprise guest—a fellow tastemaker bringing personality, passion, and a touch of mischief.

The Menu

Designed for sharing, the menu is a love letter to home kitchens. Served family-style, it invites conversation and connection. Highlights include:

Creamy Dhal with coconut, turmeric, and warm spices

Spiced Okra, crisp-tender and deeply seasoned

Guyanese Chicken Curry, rich and aromatic

Crispy Plantain Chips, sweet, salty, and addictive

Guests will also enjoy exclusive hot sauces from the Grandma’s range.

A Communal Celebration

With shared tables and generous portions, this is more than dinner—it’s a vibrant celebration of culture, spice, and nostalgia.
