Turntable Thursdays w Doña Bar

On today’s show, Tanya chats to Lucia from Doña – a mezcal and music bar championing independent creativity and empowered feminine energy.

Doña is the brainchild of long-term friends Lucia Massey and Thea Cumming, which originally started as a pop-up circa 2019. Hidden in plain sight on Stoke Newington’s High Street, the basement bar draws its inspiration from the seductiveness of prohibition era Jazz Clubs, and the vibrancy and flavour of Mexican bodegas.

An extensive list of small batch, artisanal, and rare mezcales have been brought together by Thea (also founder of premium mezcal brand, Dangerous Don and London Mezcal Week). These mezcales provide inspiration for the short agave based cocktail list that is designed to introduce mezcal’s versatility to suit any taste, whilst their neighbour Tigre Tacos serve up tasty tacos that pair perfectly with the cocktails.

Lucia runs Doña as a community focused art space that seeks to support and empower musicians and artists, with a focus on female, female identifying, and queer creatives. The diverse programme of events includes everything from life drawing to drag shows, comedy nights to film screenings, live music performances & more!

Head over to their website to find out more, and tune in to hear the team do a live tasting of the Doña Earth Box cocktails 🙂
