Turn It Up

A new government strategy called Turn It Up: Our Plan for Music is set to dedicate new funding and regulatory support to artists, music businesses, and live venues.

Under the strategy, the Music Growth Package will recieve a £15 million increase, expected to support more than 2,000 projects and 40,000 artists and music professionals.

Additional funds will go towards establishing music facilities with recording booths, studio spaces, mixing desks and equipment in libraries across England.

This strategy comes as music venues across the country are facing mounting pressure. A report from April found that 11,000 UK venues have shut their doors since 2019, diminishing opportunities for up-and-coming artists to perform and lowering access to live music in local communities.
