The Last Word Review
Two weeks brimmed with engaging conversation, soul-stirring music and provoking spoken-word came to end last week as the Last Word Festival saw off its iconic tenth year.
Kicking off with a stealth list of performers battling it out for the title of Poetry Slam Winner, the festival had an instant, contagious joy which grew throughout the superb string of events.
The More Fiya collective, led by Kayo Chingonyi, embellished through their powerful celebration of black British poetry, with highlights from Dzifa Benson, Montaza Mehri and Keith Jarret, and later too with lyrical storyteller and captivating headliner: Emmeline.
The Last Word Festival will return to the Roundhouse next Summer. Keep your eye out for updates here.
