Southbank Centre Literature Summer Season
The Southbank Centre Literature Season returns this summer with an impressive array of launches, exhibitions and events. Celebrated musicians Jarvis Cocker and PJ Harvey both present their new books whilst Warren Ellis celebrates the release of his bestseller: Nina Simone’s Gum: A Tribute of Things Lost and Found – an unexpected story of a piece of the singer’s chewing gum taken from her piano at Meltdown Festival 1999.
Other highlights include Hayward Gallery’s In the Black Fantastic, the UK’s first major exhibition dedicated to the works of Black artists who use imaginative elements to address contemporary racial injustice, featuring two specially curated events in celebration.
In-person live events are also back for the National Poetry Library for the first time since 2019, with exhibitions and performances a many throughout the summer. The season takes place from May – September, culminating with London Literature Festival from 20th – 30th October. More information here.
