Southbank Centre Appoints New Director

The Hayward Gallery’s iconic contemporary art space in the Southbank Centre is entering a new era as Sally Tallant has been appointed director.

Taking up the role from July 2026, Sally will organise new visual arts installations across the entire Southbank Centre site and oversee a national programme of work through the renowned Hayward Gallery Touring.

She was an assistant curator at the Hayward Gallery early in her career and ended up working as director of the Queens Museum in New York, coming full circle by returning to the gallery to lead, in her words, “the next chapter of this vital cultural destination”.

Head down to The Hayward Gallery in the Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road, SE1 8XX later this year to see brand new exhibitions curated by Sally.
