Sketch on the Square, National Gallery

This August, the National Gallery will take over Trafalgar Square for an outdoor celebration of art, titled ‘Sketch on the Square’.

As part of the gallery’s Inside Out festival, ‘Sketch on the Square’ will see 30 easels set up in the iconic location, ‘ready and waiting’ for budding artists to paint or draw on.

The programme will also feature an augmented reality art trail, live artist-led sessions and an alfresco exhibition of life-sized replica paintings taken from the National Gallery’s collection, including works by Gainsborough, Caravaggio and Titian.

Sketch on the Square is open to all ages and will run throughout August 2021. Sessions are free but some require bookings.
