Sargent and Fashion at Tate Britain
A fresh new exhibition is arriving at Tate Britain this Spring- Sargent and Fashion. For the very first time, John Singer Sargent’s portraits are reunited with his subjects’ original period garments.
Immerse yourself in this exhibition where portraiture and fashion merge to both create and reflect the subject’s identify while also challenging traditional gender roles.
Dive into Sargent’s use of fashion with this exhibition featuring 60 paintings from the controversial Madame X portrait of socialite Virginie Gautreau to the vibrant colours of La Carmencita- a Spanish dancer.
Tickets go for £22 here or £5 for 16-25yrs signed up to the Tate Collective.
Portraiture and fashion merge together at Tate Britain with the Sargent and Fashion exhibition running from the 22nd of February to the 7th of July.
