Philip Guston at Tate Modern

The first major UK retrospective of Canadian artist Philip Guston is arriving at Tate Modern this October.

Displays include early paintings influenced by French surrealism and Mexican muralism, alongside Guston’s infamous abstracts and cartoonish works.

Collaborative pieces made with Guston’s wife, the poet Musa McKim, will also be given new opportunities to shine in this exhibition.

Charting Guston’s iconic 50 year career, the exhibit offers new generations the chance to discover one of the 20th century’s most remarkable artists, and allows veteran fans to be inspired all over again.

Philip Guston is at Tate Modern from 5 October 2023 – 25 February 2024.
