Desperate Times, written by Amal Abdi (@amollie_), directed by Fatima Omar and Adna Ahmed, has carved its place as one of the most original and hilarious new works to hit UK stages. Blurring lines between reality and performance, Desperate Times explores what it means to perform a version of yourself just to survive, and the emotional toll of keeping up the act. It’s laugh-out-loud funny, heartbreakingly real, and fresh.

This is another major project from Side eYe Productions (@sideye_prods) following the seismic success of Dugsi Dayz by Sabrina Ali, the Somali teenage comedy that sold out David Byrne’s 2024 Royal Court four weeks ahead of opening.
