EMOTIONAL UTILITARIAN at BATSFORD BOOKSHOP & GALLERY
Whimsy and function collide this October at Batsford’s Bookshop and Gallery’s The Emotional Utilitarian exhibition.
The 60 items in the exhibit are a re-imagining of objects traditionally made to fulfil a purpose, into something more captivating and romantic.
Objects range from an egg collector’s mirror to a fruit picker, a boot-shaped chocolate mould to a carpet beater.
Though these objects were made to be used and not admired, people are free to enjoy them however they choose.
Collector, David Usborne, gathered the objects from various flea-markets and fairs for their “alluring functionality.”
The Emotional Utilitarian is running at Batsford Bookshop and Gallery from Friday 13th – Sunday 15th October.
