Electric Dreams: Tate Modern’s Celebration of Retro Tech
What was digital art before AI and 3D printing? The Tate Modern is taking us back to a time in art history exploding with optimism, innovation and experimentation. That is, digital art before the internet.
Electric Dreams: Art and Technology Before the Internet is a major new exhibition, opening on 28 November, which looks back at early machine art from the 1950s into the 80s.
From psychedelic visuals to early algorithmic experiments, this ambitious exhibition amplifies work by the brilliant minds who shaped the art world today.
Electric Dreams is open until 1 June 2025. The exhibition is free for Tate members, and £22 for general admission.
