Dead Full x Vinegar Yard
On Jordan’s last show for a little while we were joined by an array of movers and shakers in the food and drink world.
First up Andrew Barnet from Barney’s Beer, was on the phone to tell us about their collaboration with indie rockers Idlewild… Idlewild IPA. The beer will be available in Scotland as a limited edition batch to coincide with the release of Everything Ever Written, the band’s eighth record.
Bethan Foster, opertaions manager at LabTech was in the studio to fill us in on their partnership with social enterprise iRecycle to transport commercial waste away from Camden Market using barges on the Grand Union Canal. The scheme will see the amount of food waste being recycled rise from zero to fifty percent. Over four tonnes of food waste has already been recycled into approximately 2880 kWH of energy. This has saved over 2 tonnes of CO2 in just one month.
Benj Scrimgeour and Neil Simpson were in the house to tell us all about their new enterprise, the street food hot spot Vinegar Yard at London Bridge. Officially opening on April 3, the space is filled with art installations, pop-ups shops and bars, and a giant outdoor garden. Winning street food comes in the form of Up in My Grill’s smashing steaks; Nanny Bill’s brilliant burgers; Baba G’s Indian nachos and signature ‘naanwhiches’; and so much more. There’s also coffee from The Gentleman Baristas and booze from Vinegar Yard’s very own open-air bar. There’s a good mix of ethical and sustainable shops too, including Doc Cotton, Smoking Gun Vintage and the gorgeous florist Chez Michele. On top of all that, Flea London takes over every weekend, offering gorgeous vintage clothing, homeware, books, etc.
