Anisa T x Richard Hillgrove
On this week’s Midweek Reset, Anisa T explores the people rewriting the rules, challenging old archetypes and creating spaces of their own.
Looking back at London Fashion Week, Anisa moves between the erotic power and unapologetic sexuality of R&M Leathers and DI PETSA’s Holy Milk celebration of motherhood, milk and the maternal body. Together, the collections open a wider conversation about the ancient “Madonna and whore” archetypes imposed upon women, and what happens when women reclaim both for themselves.
At 3pm, controversial PR specialist Richard Hillgrove, founder of 6 Hillgrove PR, joins Anisa to discuss extreme ideas, public scandal, truth-telling and the battle to control a narrative. They explore what attracts him to controversial characters, whether he instinctively sees the story everybody else has missed and what someone should do during the first hour of a reputational crisis.
Elsewhere, Anisa discusses Apple’s new 600-capacity Apple Music Hall at Battersea Power Station and asks whether it represents valuable investment in live music or another part of culture moving inside a giant technology ecosystem.
The show also reflects on Gemma Cairney’s The Immortal Sisterhood LIVE at the British Library, the women whose ideas continue to influence us and Anisa’s visit to the House of Lords in support of the Sir David Amess Children’s Parliament UK. One hundred primary-aged children from across the UK are due to take part in a national debate in Parliament on 15 October—giving young people an opportunity to experience democracy as something they can enter and influence.
Anisa also highlights the St Joseph’s Hospice Great East End Walk, taking place on Sunday 11 October, with three-mile and ten-mile routes raising vital funds for the East London hospice.
In the Cosmic Moment, the autumn equinox and Saturday’s Aries Full Moon provide a timely invitation to reconsider balance… not as keeping every part of life perfectly equal, but as noticing when we have moved too far away from ourselves and gently correcting course.
