Ana Mendieta Exhibition at Tate Modern

For the first time in over 10 years, multidisciplinary artist Ana Mendieta takes centerstage at Tate Modern in an in-depth exhibition highlighting her work as a trailblazer.

Mendieta worked in sculture, photography, film, and drawing in the 1970s and 80s, often investigating humans’ relationships with the natural world. Her most famous collection, the Silueta Series, used natural materials like flowers, fire, and water to explore both the presence and absence of the human body.

Born in Cuba, Mendieta also used her art to pose questions about displacement and identity.

The Tate Modern installation will present some of Mendieta’s most iconic work, as well as newly remastered pieces that have never been seen in the UK before.

Ana Mendieta opened at Tate Modern June 15, and tickets are available from £18 at tate.org.uk.
