A Riot in Three Acts at Somerset House

Somerset House Studios opens a new immersive display this September taking you on a journey through some of the darker days our city has experienced, as A Riot in Three Acts transports you back to the 2011 London Riots.

Artist Imran Perretta’s focuses on Reeves Corner, a memorial ground to the racial violence which tore apart Croydon.

Perretta has recreated the House of Reeves, complete with pieces of rubbish nestled in the wood chippings, bare-branched trees, and a white picket fence.

The work was inspired by a video Perretta found on an old BlackBerry of the fire which burnt down the house over a decade ago.

This retro piece of technology is displayed alongside old newspaper reports, notebooks, and post-it notes which mark Perretta’s creative process.

The exhibition is accompanied by a cinematic score which which soundtracks your journey through Perretta’s London.

A Riot in Three Acts is running from Friday September 27th to Sunday November 10th at Somerset House, WC2R 1LA.
