“Picky Bits” get a Mediterranean Makeover

Few things say British summertime like picky bits, but as the summers heat up, the elements of the meal are changing. We caught up with chef Omar Allibhoy to chat about why mediterranean foods are dominating UK summers.

According to research from Unearthed, foods like olives, flat breads, hummus, and chroizo are being increasingly used in spreds, while crisps, spam, white bread, and corned beef are growing outdated.

Omar Allibhoy says travel habits are partially responsible for this shift. As Brits travel to mediterranean countries, he says their tastes evolve and they want a taste of their holiday back home, including as part of their regular meals.
