Nora Chipaumire’s Gadzi at Tate Modern
Body movement, sculpture and sound will coalesce at Tate Modern’s Tanks as choreographer and performer Nora Chipaumire presents her new work.
The installation, titled Gadzi, draws on Chipaumire’s lived experience to explore themes of migration, resilience against colonialism, and ancestral spirits native to Zimbabwe, melding dance, theatre, music, film and sculpture.
The display is presented under Tate Modern’s Infinities Commission, a program dedicated to experimental and boundary-breaking work from international artists.
Infinities Commission: nora chipaumire: Gadzi is running from June 3 through August 23 with free entry.
