Korea National Contemporary Dance Co: London Festival of Korean Dance

The Festival of Korean Dance at The Place continues to bring bold and innovative performances to London, with the return of Korea National Contemporary Dance Company delivering one of the festival’s most anticipated double bills.

Choreographer Young-doo Jung presents Voyage, a visually striking work inspired by NASA’s Voyager missions and humanity’s fascination with the unknown. Combining contemporary dance with layered soundscapes featuring rock, classical music and Korean traditional rhythms, the piece creates an atmospheric journey beyond everyday experience.

The energy shifts with Hakkō by Ryu Suzuki, inspired by the repetitive movements of the Japanese kendama toy. Blending hypnotic choreography with electronic music and club culture influences, the performance builds into an intense, trance-like experience.

The Friday 29 May performance also includes a post-show talk with Eddie Nixon.
