The Kpop Melon Music Awards is this Friday!

Awards season continues with the Melon Music Awards happening on December 19th, and our very own DJ Sam of KpopwithSam had to share a few thoughts ahead of one of the biggest nights in the K-pop calendar.

The Melon Music Awards, which have been around since 2005, were created by South Korea’s major streaming platform Melon. Over the years, they’ve grown into a huge industry event, known for memorable stages and awards that truly reflect what fans have been listening to. This year’s ceremony will take place at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, which always delivers an impressive atmosphere.

The performance lineup is stacked. SEVENTEEN are expected to bring their trademark precision and energy, while Stray Kids continue their powerful run with bold sounds and intense stage presence. NewJeans have defined much of 2023 with their fresh style, and PSY returning to the MMA stage is guaranteed to add some iconic moments to the night.

The nominations are just as exciting. BTS remain a dominant force even during their solo era, LE SSERAFIM and IVE have both had massive chart success this year, and Kang Daniel continues to shine as a solo artist. Jimin of BTS’s solo work has also been a standout, showing a different side of his artistry, while I-DLE’s creative edge keeps them firmly in the spotlight.
