SAVE BETHNAL GREEN’S WORKING MAN’S CLUB

Bethnal Green Working Mans Club crowdfunder

Bethnal Green’s Working Man’s Club, the beacon of East London, needs you.

The community owned social club is in danger of being sold to developers. Faced with the task of raising £12,000 by 8 April 2025, Friends of Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club (FoBGWMC) have launched a fighting fund in order to pay for a full chartered survey, valuation of the building, and a planning application. The hope is that the borough can buy back the building and offer it back to the community.

Its lit up heart makes it a nationally recognisable stage, and it has been host to the original EastEnder locals, and more recently the filming location of hit series Baby Reindeer. It’s stage has housed stars including Liam Gallagher, Bjork, Jarvis Cocker, Paloma Faith, and Sean Lock, and is noted as ‘one of the most pioneering inclusive queer spaces in the UK.

It would be a devastation to lose this unique and irreplaceable pillar of London’s Arts and Culture sector.
