NONDEF | CD SOUNDS: JOE THOMAS

Joe’s special power of insight – having been a classic PR, then a client (at Virgin), and now the ‘fractional CD’ at Clarion – is the dominant theme for today’s show. “I’ve been in your position” is a neat power move in client meetings. From ‘what you think is important is towards the end of a long to-do list’ and the power of being a good listener, to the pet hate of coverage reports coming in at 5:30 pm on a Friday, it’s packed with useful insights on the client perspective.

I hadn’t met Joe, but he’s working in the same building, so we thought we’d say hello and have a walk along Southbank. I had a drop-out for the show that evening and asked over a Pret sarnie; he said ‘yes’. No ring, I didn’t get down on one knee, but it felt quite romantic.

Fast forward to later, and the romance continued. We talked sweat control, ‘The Warm Leads’ – the in-house band at Brands2Life, and all that good client-side stuff I mentioned.
