Flaming June showing now at Royal Academy
Freidric Leighton’s iconic Victorian painting, Flaming June, will be on display for free at the Royal Academy this year.
Flaming June will be shown alongside works from the RA Collection, which will examine the relationship between painting and sculpture. This will include Michelangelo’s ‘Taddei Tondo’ c.1504, the only carving by Michelangelo in the UK.
The painting is on loan from Museo de Arte de Ponce in Puerto Rico, which currently remains partially closed due to damage caused by earthquakes in January 2020.
Flaming June c.1895 will be on display at The RA from Saturday 17 February 2024 until Sunday 12 January 2025.
