Solar powered green transition comes to Hackney Empire

The Rolling Stones, Millie Bobby Brown, Sarah Pascoe, and now 76 large solar panels will appear at Hackney Empire this September.

This move will reduce the carbon footprint and energy costs of the Grade II listed building whilst signalling its commitment to fighting the climate crisis.

The East London Theatre first opened its doors in 1901 with the mission to bring arts and culture to each street corner to be enjoyed by every person. The ‘centre for sharing and storytelling of all kinds’ remains committed to this mission over 120 years later.

Make sure to check out their electrifying, solar-powered shows, support local arts and celebrate the green transition of our beloved East London institutions.
