Listed Liverpool Street Station at Risk of Redevelopment
London’s Liverpool Street station & Hoxton Radio’s home The Andaz Hotel have been named amongst the most at-risk Victorian buildings in England and Wales.
Proposed £1.5bn plans by developer Sellar to remove part of the station’s roof and construct a 10-storey hotel and office block, sets a “dangerous precedent” for a Grade II* listed building, the Victorian Society has said.
Other buildings on this year’s Top 10 Endangered Buildings list include Rockwell Green Water Tower in Somerset, Trowse Sewage Pumping Stations in Norfolk and Carlisle Victorian and Turkish Baths in Cumbria.
The Victorian Society have launched a petition to protect Liverpool Street & The Andaz Hotel from developments that has already gained 15,000 signatures.
