Grime Stories Exhibition
The Museum of London are launching a new exhibition showcasing the stories of grime artists and celebrating the genre’s East London roots.
Opening on June 17th, ‘Grime Stories: From the Corner to the Mainstream’ explores the journey of grime over the past 20 years. The exhibition is co-curated by famous grime documentarian, Roony ‘Risky’ Keefe, and aims to platform the pioneers who shaped grime into what it is today.
A series of newly commissioned films examining the rise of the genre is at the core of the exhibition, alongside artwork and personal artefacts from the MCs and producers who developed the grime sound.
Including the works of artists like Skepta and Jammer, the display will pay homage to the Black, working-class community as well as the pirate radios, record shops and youth clubs in East London who kickstarted it all.
