Hackney Tap: Hackney’s newest pub
Hackney has a new pub to add to its roster: The Hackney Tap.
Located on Mare Street, they have 26 beers on tap, a beer garden and a gyoza kitchen.
Some fun historical trivia for you – the pub sits within the building that was Hackney’s first town hall. Built in 1802, it’s thought to have become the Town Hall in the early to mid 19th century. It then became home to the Midland Bank in 1920, the same bank that Jack Cohen on November 27 1920 opened his company’s first bank account, the man who went on to found Tesco! Named after his wife TESsa COhen.
The pub is open for reservations and walk-ins, so why not whet your whistle, support a new local business and take in some history at the same time.
