Jobs: Hoxton Radio Intern
We’re looking for a young and creative individual who is keen to expand their knowledge of the media through written journalism, online blogging, social media and presenting – for radio and TV.
Our team of presenters is comprised of the most exciting people working in this space at the moment covering all types of music, fashion and comedy who will help inspire you to explore multiple avenues.
The focus of the station is East London looking at – music, food & drink, art, fashion and technology where you will write previews for up and coming events, interview the organisers and performers then go to check out the show with exclusive access before the general public get a glimpse.
In the last week Hoxton Radio was live at LCM, I sat front row on a few shows an interviewed Dermot O’Leary, Oliver Proudlock, Oliver Cheshire and Darren Kennedy – all icons and all figures who I look up to in the media.
Technically we’ll train you how to write for radio – scripts of around 100 words which we’ll adapt for online into a blog post shared socially across our channels – twitter – instagram – facebook.
You’ll get training on how to schedule music and adverts using the Myriad playout system, how to edit audio and create packages using Garageband, how to produce live radio shows and how to present on air.
The role will also involve client meetings face to face and over the phone preparing documents and researching local businesses. Where possible we’ll look to bring in revenue to the station, you may also be offered drinks, food, clothes, a bicycle, tickets and other fun gifts.
We’re looking for someone who is excited to discover new things, likes being sociable, wants to go out, works well around people and is hungry to extend their skills in all of the above.
This position is full time 9pm – 5pm Monday to Friday.
