Exciting things afoot in Spitalifields, with the opening of The Kitchen’s – traders include Breddos Tacos, Happy Endings and Yum Bun to name a few.

Smoking Goat opens this Friday over on Shoreditch High Street, which is the third site from Ben Chapman of Soho’s Smoking Goat and Kiln.
Shoreditch’s Smoking Goat will be focusing on regional Thai food. They will not be taking bookings but you can get a ressie if you are a party of 6 or more.

Gina Hopkins is leaving the building – the chef of Drapers Arms in Islington for the last few years is off to Glasgow. Hopkins is replaced by Luke Frankie who worked at Fifteen, Spring and Dock Kitchen.

Genuwine – THIS Friday (27th October) at Ruby’s in Dalston – 90’s R’n’B plus wine – WINNING! There will be a slew of delcious grape juice curated by some of London’s wise wine women, plus Daniel Willis from The Clove Club on the decks. The Bloomberg Arcade has opened with a slew of dining spots – Homeslice, Vinoteca, Bleecker Burger and MORE!

Our guests this week were Emma Underwood of Manchester’s Where the Light Get’s In in Stockport. Emma came down to chat all about The Switch, an initiative brought to us by The TMRW Project, helping nurture the next generation of hospitality hopefuls. The Switch sees people in front of house roles switch places with another front of house person at a different restaurant. There they can learn new tools of the trade, see a different style of service and more! They also spoke about pet peeves and the restaurant scene in London vs Manchester.

At the Counter’s second guest was Alex from Behind this Wall on Mare Street. The small bar hosts a happy hour Tuesday through Saturday 6-8pm with £4.50 cocktails and £1 oysters. Tuesdays they have Poke and over the last month they have hosted an wonderful list of chefs such as, Magnus Reid, Carl Clarke and Rob Sachdev on Wednesday nights.
